Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at each of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the championship lead from his teammate by a single point after his victory in Mexico City a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he rotated at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the track edges before sliding over the gravel trap, and was blessed to avoid just a slight brush of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner leading to the last turn on to the pit straight.
Hamilton ended the session in 19th place, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, over half a second off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
